Hello,

a bit about me:

My husband (Mark) and I have lived in Ocean Shores for 7 years – having moved here after 20 years of vacationing with our children. We love the beach, the beautiful natural setting and the tranquility of the community. Previously, we resided 28 years in Redmond, pursued our careers and raised our family.

I have always had a keen interest in local government and contributing to my community. While in Redmond I served five years on the Planning Commission and was elected to the Redmond City Council in 1999 and served a four-year term. [Please click on the background button for more information.]

Shortly after moving to Ocean Shores, Mark and I accepted the position of Co-Executive Directors of the Ocean Shores North Beach Chamber of Commerce. We served in this position for two years and met a great many of the 260 business members of the Chamber and acquainted ourselves with our hospitality and tourism industry here in Ocean Shores and in Grays Harbor.

We organized Plackett Enterprises, a business consulting company and a Speakers Bureau. We continue to grow Plackett Enterprises, having completed a series of Hospitality and Restaurant Training Workshops in Ocean Shores and Grays Harbor for the past two years.

I was appointed to the Ocean Shores Planning Commission in January 2011 and am currently serving my fourth year. I also served the community in these roles:

Served on the EMS Citizens Advisory Commission – Ocean Shores, WA – February, 2010

Served on the Library Levy Committee – Ocean Shores, WA – February 2012

Appointed to the Mayor’s Ad Hoc Committee on Economic Development – 2013

Primary Reason for Running for the

Ocean Shores City Council

I’d like to serve as your Council Member primarily because I enjoy community service and I have learned that communities grow and thrive when they have positive leadership. I have strong skills in communication, technology and building consensus among competing ideas.  I am able to balance these skills with a win-win attitude. Our city’s leadership team needs to look ahead at emerging issues and anticipate how they will impact our community – I believe I can assist in this effort.

In addition, I support:

  • The completion of sidewalks for Point Brown

  • Advancing the use of technology throughout the city’s administration

  • A thoughtful balance between our environment and the needs and services that our residents and businesses require.

Please feel free to click on the menu items on this website to read more about my civic involvement in Ocean Shores and some of the ideas I have about building a thriving and enjoyable Ocean Shores Community.

And do join my no-host coffee chat, every Tuesday at 4:00 at The Home Port Restaurant from now until election day, November 3, 2015.
